3D Systems Digital Thread for Personalized Surgery

3D Systems pioneered healthcare solutions that enhance quality-of-life through the use of 3D printing technologies and has been at the forefront of surgical planning and personalized medical solutions for almost two decades.

Our products and services meet the needs of customers ranging from medical device OEMs and teaching hospitals to individual healthcare professionals. We are dedicated to help doctors train for, plan, practice and perform complex medical procedures and achieve better patient outcomes.

3DS is committed to building an end-to-end Digital Thread for Personalized Surgery as the only company offering healthcare-centric 3D printing and 3D visualization technology. Our digital surgical tools include accurate 3D printed anatomical models; advanced virtual reality simulators; direct metal printing for implants and instrumentation; and personalized 3D printed surgical guides. We are developing true patient-specific healthcare solutions, one by one or at scale, designed to change the future of personalized medicine.

The Digital Thread for Personalized Surgery is a proprietary workflow guiding the entire process from patient medical imaging through surgical outcomes, enabling the transition from the virtual world to the physical with perceptual design tools and software, surgical simulation and 3D printed surgical guides and models.

As part of the growing 3D Systems healthcare division we currently offer the following products and services:

Simbionix products

3D Systems’ Simbionix™ product line is at the forefront of virtual reality medical simulation. The training simulators offer clinicians the most realistic hands-on experience to master critical skills to ensure procedural efficiency without patient risk.

Digital Surgical tools, segmentation, and patient specific simulation
The PROcedure Rehearsal Studio™ assists clinicians as they prepare for an upcoming procedure by creating a patient specific 3D anatomical model based on CT images and a segmentation process. The segmentation files can be exported to a virtual simulated environment, or physically printed by 3D printers, to simulate, analyze and evaluate pre-operative surgical treatment options.

Medical Modeling

3D Systems’ Medical Modeling™ spearheaded the use of 3D printing clinical models for surgical planning using medical image data. Its leadingClearView™ anatomical model enables selective coloration to highlight vital structures, and the option to sterilize for reference during surgery. Another highly accurate and sterilzable option is the ArthroView™ product line. These opaque-white stereolithography models are an ideal visualization tool for orthopedic reconstruction and oncologic cases. A less expensive alternative is the highly accurate OsteoView™ modeling line which can be printed in a white opaque or full color material and is limited to non-sterile use.

Our Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP® System) technology is a market cleared, service based approach to personalized surgery, combining expertise in medical imaging, surgical simulation and 3D printing. The surgeon brings clinical knowledge and desired surgical plan to an online web meeting with our biomedical engineer to simulate and plan the surgical procedure. The outcome is a digital plan that is transferred to the operating room including accurate 3D printed personalized surgical tools, templates and models.

LayerWise

3D Systems’ LayerWise product line includes high-end 3D printing services for metallic implants and instrumentation used for orthopedicspinal,CMFdental and veterinary applications. Medical device companies rely on the expertise and Direct Metal Printing (DMP) capabilities to guide them from prototyping and trial series to large volume manufacturing.

DentWise is the perfect partner in digital dentistry for labs, dental distributors and OEMs. Its unique high-end manufacturing technology ensures perfect fit, function and esthetics for all dental prostheses, regardless whether cemented, removable or implant retained.
